History:
This building marks the northern cornerstone of the 'Golden Triangle' precinct. The 19 story office development was completed in 2002. Visible features in front of the CUA building were the 2 silver-coloured metal hands; the artwork named 'Chat' was designed by Sebastian Di Mauro in 2001. Currently the lower levels and foyer of this building are undergoing refurbishments.
Building Materials:
The main pillars of the CUA building are pale grey even-grained biotite granite, most likely imported. Internal wall cladding stones include a white grainy marble and a dark-grey fine-grained diorite. The internal floors show a medium-grained brown granite and a medium-grained black gabbro probably from China.
External pavers are greenish-grey felsic porphyry (Formation: Boonmoo Volcanic Subgroup) from Rogina Quarries near Herberton (commercial name: Australian Porphyry).
