Holistic Health: AB Integrative Therapies

As a multi modality practitioner I draw on a variety of assessment and treatment techniques. Many clients see me for physical pain and stress management using therapeutic bodywork as treatment, dietary advice to address gut dysfunction and most often as a regular way to check in with themselves and keep on track with their health goals. 

All consultations are based on a Naturopathic approach but I do not choose supplementation over real food (this probably stems from my chef background). I am disheartened when I hear clients say they have spent a lot of money on supplements when perhaps what they needed to do was eliminate certain foods to reduce inflammation until the gut was able to re-establish its natural rhythm. Sometimes less is more.

As a Remedial Massage Therapist I have seen many clients learn through experiencing bodywork how their physical body responds to mental emotional stress and in turn their habits around food, mood, sleep and social behaviour. Understanding what you need and when will come when you stop and listen to what your body is telling you. I find bodywork is most helpful for people who have a lot of mental stress and here I draw on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Yogic philosophies to understand what techniques to use. 

I have worked in Australia and the UK with people of all ages, elite athletes para-athletes and more recently supporting people with disabilities. I am a member of the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA 7317) and regularly keep up to date with recent research and industry discussions. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine) to consolidate my varied skill set and have a keen interest in research and education since being back in the classroom. Future possibilities may be further study in Public and Environmental Health, Traditional Medicine Systems and travelling the world meeting people, having fun with friends and family and learning from our natural environment, which isn’t that different to our own internal systems.
