The Empire Hotel is a well recognised Brisbane live music venue owned and managed by the Katarzyna Group. With live musicians and DJs six nights a week the clubs features include pool tables, numerous dance floors, balconies that overlook the Fortitude Valley and private booths.
The Empire Hotel offers five separate areas including: Press Club, Cocktail Lounge, Dance Bar, Moon Bar and Corner Bar which are all available to book for private functions.
The property at the corner of Brunswick and Ann Street shas had a hotel on site since 1865. The first hotel was known as Family Hotel and the licensee was L. Rosenberg.
The original building was erected in 1889 and was designed by architect Richard Gailey. After 1936, and possibly as late as in the 1950s, a portion of the hotel fronting Ann Street was sold as Empire Apartments. This portion was later demolished in the early 1960s.
The Empire Hotel was refurbished in 1993 and is acknowledged as a social and dining focal point of Brisbane\'s clubbing district of Fortitude Valley.
